With the launch of the new Raspberry Pi 2 Model B we thought it would be a great idea to visit a few local maker spaces and let them see it up close. Three of us from MCM Electronics (Bryan, Christian & Greg) headed out to visit the local Dayton Maker / Hacker space Dayton Diode who were having their weekly Raspberry Pi meetup on Thursday, February 5th.
(Bryan talks about the new Raspberry Pi 2 Model B)
Dayton Diode is located in downtown Dayton within the Front Street Buildings Complex. They have been in their latest space for about six months and it was full of projects in process and various tools. Only a few group members were there for the meet up, but they were all enthusiastic to see what the new board could do and seeing how it compares to the Model B & B+. We brought by quite a few Raspberry Pi related goodies for the members of the space and then set about setting up the Pi for some testing. Once we had everything configured we were able to play Minecraft and run YouTube at 1080p all without any lagtime. Everyone was very impressed with the new version of the Pi and were already thinking of future projects to use the board in.

We at MCM enjoyed meeting the members of Dayton Diode who were there. If you are in the Dayton area and curious about Raspberry Pi or are looking for a hackerspace to join check out Dayton Diode. We look forward to coming back sometime in the future and seeing what they have planned for the future!
